Kung Hei Fat Choi! Well, almost.
But, before I mislead you, I'm not going to talk about the Chinese New Year in this entry. :P
Instead, I'll be talking about two Chinese-related, er, "films"? Well, the quote is on since the other one isn't exactly a film, but a drama SP, rather.

So, first one is Case Files of Young Kindaichi: Hong Kong Kowloon Treasure Murder Case. I just finished watching it last week. Late, I know, but better than never, as the adage goes. So... It feels strange since it's been almost a year since I last saw Yamada act, and although he did great in most of his parts, some of his co-actors just... didn't. Not to mention I was totally disappointed with how the plot went. I thought it were to be something bigger than I was expecting, but it went the other way around. Sigh.

I don't really mind if they would want to redeem themselves with a drama series though, as long as the mystery plot is sufficiently sane.

Then, just today, we went to the theater to watch Chinese Zodiac. Er, yep, that's the one dubbed as Jackie Chan's last action movie. Hmm... I'm still hoping he changes his mind though, as with even only the first few minutes rolling, the film already sent my jaw dropping. As expected from the comedy-stunts-action king (lol I made that up in case you didn't notice), the movie surely sent us laughing and holding our breath (well, we even held our bladder just to be able to see every second of the film!).

I don't know if it's just me, but the Chinese accent on most of the characters confused me a lot really. Even for Jackie Chan's case, that was totally true, even though as a fan I've seen his previous works, and have heard better English from him than what was in this movie. Well, I guess I can always look forward to the English subs that people will do once the DVD rips are around. HEHE.

And, to all our pleasant surprise, we had a bonus character on screen: Kwon Sang Woo!!! (a number of girls squealed on their seats upon seeing him LOOOOOOL). It was really such a shock to see him acting on an action drama, alongside Jackie chan, on a Hollywood movie. Just. WOW. As for his acting, he can already be considered one of the Korean veterans, and it was also nice to hear him speak in Chinese, though I totally doubt if that was him speaking in English or if it was just dubbed. :P If someone can take a stand and clarify this for me, I'd sure be interested to hear your side. Anyway, overall his appearance was such an eyecandy, and added to the already-entertaining atmosphere the movie had.

Speaking of atmosphere, the one in this movie, albeit entertaining as I said, was also marked with finality and seriousness I've never felt in JC's previous films. Quite sad to realize, really, as I've always enjoyed the light-mood-filled yet action-packed movies Jackie always brings to the audience.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to his romance-comedy stuff, if there will be. And if it were to be local, I'd go watch it even more!
(just worrying about how the quality will go but, oh well)
